Shortcross Belfast Whiskey Week ’24 Exclusive
Peated Single Malt Irish Whiskey
Description
o Shortcross Belfast Whiskey Week ‘24 Exclusive Peated Single Malt Irish Whiskey has been proudly distilled, matured and bottled at Rademon Estate Distillery in County Down.
o This unique expression for Belfast Whiskey Week 2024 is a heavily peated malt whiskey that has been matured for over 4.5 years in a virgin Quercus Alba cask.
o The malted barley when mashed had a phenol level of 55ppm, setting it out as heavily Peated mashbill. Upon maturation the phenol level in the final whiskey is between 16 – 30 ppm, making this a rich and smokey whiskey.
o The wood for the staves for this cask were air seasoned for 36 months at the cooperage in America prior to being formed into a cask. This long period of air seasoning removes the tannins from the wood and encourages microfloral growth which positively contribute flavour and aroma to the whiskey as it matures.
o The cask was then highly toasted and finished with a high char (#4) to help release wood components and sugars into the maturing whiskey.
o Double distilled for depth of flavour on copper pot stills.
o Non-chill filtered, all natural colour.
o ABV 46%
